Greetings all. Today was incredible. We took a continuation of our hop-on hop-off bus tour. This time through lower Manhattan. We visited the 9/11 memorial. It is very well done and achieves an emotional response through it’s vast simple holes in the ground to mark the places where the two buildings once stood. The holes have water flowing into them and the names of all those who died are inscribed around the perimeters. It’s quite moving. We then took the Staten Island ferry which is the best deal in New York as its free. Here’s a picture of madam Liberty taken from the ferry. We ended our day at an amazing performance on Broadway of the Lion king. the costuming – synergies of people with puppetry was truly remarkable. We had great seats and loved every colourful well produced second of it. I’m now off to bed to get a bit of shut eye after our nearly 14 hour day!
Hi Brenda, we’ve been using city sights for our hop on hop off. Excellent guides on the busses and the add on free cruise. Many hustlers on the streets. It was cheaper buying the two day pass on line before leaving home. The cruise worthwhile as it’s free. Another trip – buy a subway pass – unlimited use and it’s a very efficient way of getting around. Bring a good map or get one when you arrive. We use ours constantly.
Another day in the Big Apple Kim, and you made the most of it. Question…which Hop On Hop Off bus company are you using?
