On this day we also crossed a river deep enough for the water to come up into the saddle bags of some of the shorter horses. We rode across with our feet up on the necks of our horses. I was too busy holding on to take a picture of that excitement. There were also several areas where we had to duck under numerous tree branches – the riding helmet was much appreciated as it met with four sturdy branches. I soon learned to duck really low over the saddle of my rather tall horse! What an initiation to trail riding! My months of lessons didn’t quite prepare me for this kind of riding but it sure was a thrill a minute!
