Crossing rivers and streams was a daily occurrence. I was usually too busy managing my horse down steep rocky slopes into crossing areas or hanging on tight as we climbed back up the other side. Crossings tended to,require full focus and were sometimes splashy events. Sometimes the swift water and uneven ground caused the horses to hesitate or side step – but here I managed to grab a picture before we crossed this river. And yes it was as cold and windy as it looks. We’d just changed horses and my new mount was requiring much more handling than dear Fisso. This was the only picture I managed to take while riding him. The rest of the time I was fully focused on ensuring we didn’t go dashing off into the sunset! He was a very fine horse and gave me the best ride of the three I rode during the trip!
